On the third day of the Chinese New Year, Kim Mui Hoey Kuan’s youth group members gathered at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre for the Spring Reception 2023 celebration jointly organised by Singapore Federation of Chinese Clan Associations and the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre.
The event was graced by Guest-of-Honour, Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Second Minister for Law, Ministers, Senior Ministers of State, Mayors, as well as other members of the Cabinet and Parliament, representatives of diplomatic corps, leaders and prominent members of the Chinese community, clan associations and local Chinese arts and cultural groups.
After a break of almost 2 years due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were grateful to be able to come together again to rekindle old ties and forge new ones, hanging out with our “extended family”.
Mr Tan Kah Moh and Mr Lee Chee Wan, the vice-chairmen of the Kim Mui Hoey Kuan, attended the Chinese New Year Gathering on behalf of the Kim Mui Hoey Kuan. Chairman Png Yiow Beng and Head of General Affairs Perng Peck Seng also attended the event as a board member of the SFCCA.
The honorary chairman of the association, Mr Thomas Chua Kee Seng, the current president of the SFCCA, said in his speech that the SFCCA, as a bridge between the government and the Chinese community, will put the focus of four key thrusts:
1. mobilise member groups to move towards digitizing association administration,
2. encourage family-based participation activities in the association,
3. assist the elderly in mastering digital skills, while
4. fostering interracial interaction.
Chairman Chua also emphasized that the hope of the association lies in the active participation of the younger generation.
