How you feel about this trip?

Before embarking on the Kinmen Youth 2023 trip, I harbored no expectations nor had any inkling about what it might entail. However, as I immersed myself in the experience and spent time with the local community, I was pleasantly surprised to discover the richness of Kinmen’s culture, an aspect often overlooked by many. Interacting with people from all walks of life, I found that they shared a common goal with me – to delve into and grasp the essence of Kinmen’s heritage. The trip turned out to be immensely enjoyable, and I particularly appreciated the camaraderie and support extended by the Singaporean team members, who made my journey smoother. It’s challenging to encapsulate the myriad emotions I experienced during this trip, but if I had to pick one word, it would undoubtedly be “grateful.” Grateful for the opportunity to connect with the local Kinmen populace, as well as with individuals from diverse backgrounds such as Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. Above all, I am grateful for the invaluable insights gained and the deeper understanding fostered of Kinmen’s unique culture.

The Kinmen Youth 2023 trip yielded several invaluable benefits. Firstly, I gained a profound understanding of Kinmen’s culture, delving into its intricacies and experiencing firsthand the way of life of its residents throughout history. This firsthand experience provided insights that are not readily accessible to everyone. Secondly, the trip facilitated connections with individuals from various countries, fostering cultural exchange and broadening my perspective. Lastly, I seized the opportunity to enhance my proficiency in Chinese, as it served as the primary mode of communication with the majority of locals, thus enriching my linguistic skills.

Would you recommend other youths to join and why?

I wholeheartedly recommend other youths to join this trip for several compelling reasons. Firstly, the tour guide, being a Kinmen resident, ensures an immersive and comprehensive experience, guiding participants through various locales and offering unique insights into Kinmen’s culture and history. Additionally, the trip provides an exceptional opportunity for individuals from diverse backgrounds to come together and forge meaningful connections, transcending differences and fostering camaraderie. This inclusive environment fosters a sense of unity and allows everyone to focus on enjoying the experience together. Ultimately, this trip offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore, learn, and create lasting memories, making it a must-attend for any adventurous youth seeking enriching experiences.
